This is a great board. I’m 36 M, 240 lb, and bought this board to learn to skate with my 8 y/o son. I had started trying to learn on a 22” board, and was seriously struggling to balance. When I got this larger board, I immediately found it easier to balance and control.
I was concerned that the deck would be slippery. But despite any grip tape, the waffle design is very secure with my Vans authentics.
I would like the deck to be thicker so that it doesn’t flex as much. I have found that putting my front foot with my toes just barely covering the bottom screws is about the right placement to get minimal flexing of the deck.
But I love those board and I’m loving the opportunity to learn to ride a skateboard.
I would absolutely recommend the Nickel Board!

Nickel is a great option for all weather conditions. I'm planning to put ceramic bearings in the future. It feels even more perfect with Shark Wheels. The board is not slippery in the rain, but it also depends on your shoes. The deck flexes more than I expected, need to get used to it.
The only thing I don't like about the Nickel model is that it doesn't have a concave. Because of that you feel less confident and less comfortable.
Also compared to my friend's old Penny, now the details of the trucks have worse quality. For example, the layer of paint on the trucks has a lot of bubbles and it covers the logo a bit. And the Penny logo now is not so detailed, it looks like the company has reduced production costs.
Perfect board, will definitely buy another!
